Quick checks for PocketRocket and PocketRocket Host.
Why don’t I see my Mac in PocketRocket? — Don’t see your Mac?
Check three things. Both devices must be signed in to the same Apple Account, PocketRocket Host must be running on your Mac—look for the rocket in the menu bar—and both need an internet or local network connection. If the app says it’s waiting for the encryption key of your Mac from iCloud, give iCloud a moment.
Tick them off one by one.
Connection feels slow?
In PocketRocket Host, set the lowest frame rate you’ll accept—15, 20, 30, 60 fps, 30 by default—under Advanced › Sharpness vs fluidity. To cap the bandwidth, use Maximum bandwidth to use in the host settings.
Is your Mac asleep?
PocketRocket can’t wake a Mac from sleep, so keep your Mac from sleeping in System Settings. During a session, PocketRocket Host keeps it from idle sleep and wakes its display when you connect.
Unlock doesn’t work?
In PocketRocket, turn on Automatic login and save your Mac password there, then unlock your Mac at the macOS login window with Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID.1
Displays didn’t come back?
When a session ends, PocketRocket Host brings the physical displays of your Mac back on—and it recovers them after a crash, too.
Need diagnostics?
Press ⌃⌥⌘D to show diagnostics from PocketRocket Host, or open Diagnostics in its settings. You can change the shortcut under Shortcuts.
